Visiona Stool
Design: Verner Panton, 1970 - Sabine Marcelis Edition 2024
Verner Panton designed the Visiona Stool as part of the interior installation created in 1970 for his legendary Visiona exhibition in Cologne. The compact upholstered stool not only provides practical and comfortable seating but also adds vibrant colour accents that can be coordinated with any interior, thanks to the large selection of fabric hues.
The unobtrusive geometric shape allows the Visiona Stool to be paired with a wide range of furnishings. Due to its light weight, it can be easily repositioned and combined into spontaneous groupings. The robust fabric cover is secured with an elastic band, which makes it simple to remove and clean.
The Sabine Marcelis Edition 2024 is available in four fabric colours derived from the palette used by the Dutch artist and designer when furnishing the VitraHaus Loft.

Material description
- Bubblegum: the Kvadrat cover fabric Argo 2 (0633) designed by Raf Simons is inspired by the sheepskins, furs and hides utilised by mid-century modern designers such as Jean Royère and Pierre Jeanneret. The glossy, deep pile is woven from the long silky hairs of the Angora goat for a distinctive fleece-like texture with an exceptionally soft feel.
- Butter: the elegant finely patterned fabric Reed 07, a blend of linen, wool and cotton, is cool and soft to the touch. The structure of the fabric designed by Hella Jongerius has a hand-made aesthetic, its irregular lively linen yarn lending the fabric a natural expression.
- Honeydew: the Kvadrat fabric Uniform Melange (0913) designed by Febrik has an invitingly soft and comfortable look. A polyester filling is incorporated between the two knitted layers of fabric for added volume, while the predominant use of wool in the textile's top layer lends it a natural, dry handle.
- Caramel: Leather Natural F 10 is a very soft cowhide leather with an untreated grain. It is porous, breathable and acquires a lively patina through use. It is processed with a tanning agent extracted from olive tree leaves, and any chemicals used are harmless and applied in the smallest possible amounts.
- Harissa: Track 15 is a medium-weight woollen fabric with a subtle pattern of fine diagonal stripes, which gives it a sporty, fresh appearance. Thanks to its high quality, the fabric is suited for office environments, but also adds a beautiful touch to home interiors.
- Plum: Harald 3 (0382) from Kvadrat is a densely woven velour designed by Fanny Aronsen. The very short pile gives the fabric a velvety surface with the soft texture of cotton. The intense colour accentuates the silhouette of the upholstered object, emphasising its volumes and contours.
- Oyster: the Kvadrat fabric Ecriture (100) is a matt bouclé melange with an elegant sheen and rich texture. Made with a dobby loom, the soft fabric combines matt and chenille yarns with a shiny warp to create a speckled surface reminiscent of grains of rice.
- Upholstery: polyurethane foam with polystyrene core and polyester filling.
- Base: MDF board with felt glides.

Verner Panton was an influential figure in the development of design during the 1960s and ’70s. After moving to Switzerland in the early 1960s, the Danish designer became known for his inventive, novel ideas for furnishings, lighting and textiles. The masterful use of colour was a hallmark of his work.
