Resting Animals

Front haben mit ihrem Projekt Resting Animals die enge Verbindung zwischen Menschen und figurativen Objekten neu untersucht: zufällig ausgewählte Personen wurden nach den emotional bereicherndsten und sinnvollsten Objekten in ihrem Leben befragt. Die meisten Antworten bezogen sich auf Tierfiguren, denen Persönlichkeit, spezifische Attribute oder eine gemeinsame Geschichte zugesprochen wurden. Frühere Arbeiten von Front widmen sich zudem der systematischen Beobachtung des Schlafs oder Winterschlafs von Tieren.
Mit den Resting Animals findet diese Auseinandersetzung ihren Ausdruck in einer Gruppe schlafender Tierfiguren, deren Form grosse Ruhe und Friedfertigkeit ausstrahlt. Die grösste von ihnen ist ein mit Strickstoff bezogener Bär, der als Fussablage, als Hocker, zum Anlehnen etc. dienen kann. Die kleineren Entwürfe – eine Katze und zwei unterschiedlich grosse Vögel – sind dekorative Figuren aus Keramik. So bringen die Resting Animals nicht nur die Natur nach Hause, sondern vermitteln durch ihre Haltung und über das Dekorative hinaus ein Gefühl tiefer Zufriedenheit – das sich hoffentlich auf den Besitzer überträgt.
