Vitra at GLUE Amsterdam

19 - 22 September 2024

From September 19th to 22nd, Vitra Netherlands will participate in GLUE Amsterdam connected by design. GLUE seeks to connect companies, architects, designers, and design enthusiasts who form the Amsterdam design community. We have put together a varied program with the aim to inform, inspire, and create. There are various events, workshops, and talks for (interior) architects, designers, partners, clients and visitors.

We are kicking off with a premiere: the launch of Anagram, an innovative 360˚ sofa platform designed by the Lausanne-based design duo Panter&Tourron. Stefano Panterotto and Alexis Tourron will be coming to the Netherlands specifically for this and will discuss innovative design with Evelien Reich.

Theo-Bert Pot from The Nice Stuff Collector will share tips & tricks and show how small changes and colours can keep an interior fresh and exciting in two interactive interior and colour workshops. After the workshop, there will be six speed dates with Theo-Bert for a fifteen-minute design session where you can ask specific questions about, for instance, colour combinations, furniture mix or general layout in specific rooms at home.

The Vitra interior architects are ready to assist you, offering interior advice and thinking along with you about, about the layout of the living room, home office or your company.

Alexander Girard’s Wooden Doll family always captures the imagination with colourful wooden dolls, each with its own personality. Iris Havekes from C-More will give two Wooden Doll painting workshops where you can paint an unpainted Wooden Doll according to your own ideas.

Below you will find all the information about the various events per day. You can register for the different events at the bottom of the page.

20 September 2024 - Interior & colour - Workshop by Theo-Bert Pot
The interior and colour workshop demonstrates that your interior doesn’t need to stay the same for years and that with a few simple changes, you can give your space a different look & feel. He shows how to work with the layout of your living room, dining room, bedroom, or kitchen and how to combine colors instead of painting everything in RAL9010.

What are the dos & don’ts, and how can you rearrange your interior whether you live in a big or small space? These questions will all be answered, and you also have a chance to win a signed book by Theo-Bert, which will be raffled at both sessions!

22 September 2024 - Wooden Dolls painting workshop - By Iris Havekes
Alexander Girard's Wooden Dolls are a large family of wooden figures representing people and animals. Girard designed them in 1952 for his own use as decorative objects in his home in Santa Fe. These originals, part of the Girard legacy managed by the Vitra Design Museum, served as models for the current reissues. The Wooden Dolls are exact replicas of the originals by Alexander Girard and are still handcrafted and hand painted. Even though the differences between them are very slight, each wooden figure is a unique, individual object, literally one of a kind.

Create your own original Wooden Doll by painting a blank version according to your own ideas and take home a unique piece.

- Material: solid spruce wood
- Wood origin: silver fir (Abies alba) from Western Europe and/or Poland
- Maximum participants: 10 per workshop, registration is on a first-come, first-served basis
- Cost: € 25 per person, payable at the start of the workshop (one Wooden Doll per participant)
